Hawkeye is one of the most popular superheroes in the Marvel Universe. His comics have become a fan favorite, not just because of his unique ability to fight crime, but also because of his fascinating backstory. We’ll cover everything you need to know about the character and what makes him special, including the new series that’s coming to Disney+, his appearances in the MCU, and more!
Character arcs
Character arcs are a staple in comic books. They often tell a story about a character that demonstrates some sort of skill. These arcs can vary greatly from character to character. Hawkeye is a great example.
A Hawkeye arc could include anything from training a new hero to going rogue. It may even involve a villainous villain. However, this doesn’t mean it has to be bad. Some of the better arcs in comics are actually the most trite.
A Hawkeye arc can be a simple affair. For instance, one of the characters is a very good spy. Another arc involves a villain with a lot of backstory. Yet another arc is about a character that doesn’t need to be evil. Essentially, this is a character that has a purpose and does what he is supposed to do.
There are many other characters in the Marvel universe that have character arcs. But only one original character, Hawkeye, doesn’t have an origin story. While it’s true that there are several avengers with very complicated arcs, Hawkeye is the only original Marvel character without a clear origin.
MCU appearances
Hawkeye is one of the most recognizable Marvel heroes. His appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe has had a huge impact on the franchise and his character has been an integral part of many key events.
The first time we saw Hawkeye was in the first Thor movie. He was not yet a full fledged member of the Avengers, but he did join forces with Thor and Black Widow.
When Hawkeye joined the Avengers, his skills were put to the test. Hawkeye became a source of strength to fellow Avengers and mentor to younger heroes like Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch.
Eventually, Hawkeye grew into a more dedicated and loyal member of the Avengers. Despite his lack of superpowers, he still was willing to put his life in danger to protect others.
While he is one of the weaker Avengers in the MCU, Hawkeye has played a major role in many important events in the universe. Some of his most prominent appearances include The Avengers, Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Age of Ultron, and Avengers: Endgame.
Disney+ spinoff
A new Marvel series, Echo, is being developed for Disney+. This series will follow a deaf Native American girl. The show will be created by Get Hard’s Etan Cohen and will be executive produced by Emily Cohen.
It is set in a small town in Georgia. The story will revolve around a deaf Native American superheroine named Maya Lopez. She is a young woman with athletic abilities. As a result, she is able to mimic the movements of others. She also uses her fighting skills.
In addition to her role as Maya, Alaqua Cox is also slated to play the character of Echo. In the comic books, Echo has been a primary villain. She was initially introduced as the adopted daughter of Kingpin.
The series is based on Matt Fraction’s 22-issue Hawkeye comic book series. Production is currently underway. However, Disney hasn’t given a release date for the new series. It is expected to premiere late 2021.
Animated series
Hawkeye, a series based on the Marvel comic character of the same name, was launched by Marvel Studios as a limited series on Disney+. The show has a unique, Christmassy vibe, as Clint Barton takes his family to NYC during the holidays.
Hawkeye will air on Disney+ in six episodes. This includes a live-action debut of a deaf actress, Echo, whose abilities mimic human movement. It’s a departure from most MCU fare, but one that could end up being the show’s most important moment.
Jeremy Renner, who previously played Clint Barton in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), has been tapped to reprise the role in the Disney+ series. His co-stars include Hailee Steinfeld and Vincent D’Onofrio.
Alaqua Cox, who also starred in Avengers: Endgame, has been cast as the female superhero Echo. Her role is a nod to Black Widow’s Taskmaster. She’s from the Menominee and Mohocan nations.
In addition to Renner and Steinfeld, “Hawkeye” features a number of other familiar Marvel characters. Tony Dalton plays Swordsman, while Florence Pugh plays Yelena Belova, who is seeking revenge for her brother’s death in “Age of Ultron”.
Hawkeye’s story is set after “Endgame.” The series will have a big moment for Echo. Also, another Oscar-nominated actress is slated to join the cast. Moreover, it’s rumored that Madame Masque will make an appearance.
